This authentic antique map in Dutch is by cartographer Jacob Roggeveen. Published in 1724, it is a fascinating map of the world which depicts Roggeveen’s voyage to the South Pacific which he undertook on behalf of the Dutch West India Company.
With three ships, he sailed to the Falklands, Chile and Juan Fernandez Island, then crossed the Pacific toward Australia. During this voyage he discovered Easter Island, the Society Islands, and Samoa. His journey also had commercial objectives.
Condition: This map is in B+ condition. Slight soiling across the top border. Pin holes at two fold intersections. Ample borders on three sides, slightly narrowed right margin.
