This authentic antique of Poland by Chatelain includes portions of Livonie (Latvia), Russia, and the frontiers of the State of Moscovie. The central northern point is the North Sea, while a portion of the Black Sea is to be found in the lower right quadrant. The southern border also contains portions of Hungary, Transylvania and ‘the States of the Turks’, or part of the far-stretching reach of the Ottoman Empire at that time. Greats swathes of forest are included, as are mountain ranges and rivers.
This impressive map includes two insets, one a table describing the major cities and towns, and the other a list of important royal and aristocratic figures. Each side is embellished with fifteen coats of arms. The map is hand colored.
Condition: The map is on heavy paper and is in B condition. There is light toning and foxing with some staining is in the body of the map. Full borders. A centerfold separation has been repaired with archival materials on the verso.
