This authentic antique hand-colored (original) map is from the third American edition of the Atlas. This fine early nineteenth century map of the continent features the old origin of the Nile River, emanating from two lakes in the Mountains of the Moon.
The map is encompassed on three sides by English language text describing all aspects of concern to explorers, both armchair and real-life ones. Climate and Produce, Ancient State of Africa, Present State of Africa, European Settlements and Trade are but a few of the topics covered in detail in the text.
Condition: This map is in A condition with a tiny split at the centerfold which has been repaired with archival material. Good thick paper and a strong, dark impression.
