Original 1988 flyer for Latest Flames, a show of sculptural work from Brian Eno. Eno is primarily known as the father of Ambient music. This show, Sound and Light Structures, took place at The Santa Monica Museum of Art at Edgemar between August 18 and November 1, 1988.

Brian Eno's Sound and Light Structures are part of his exploration of ambient art and environmental design, reflecting his interest in creating immersive and engaging art experiences.

Sound Structures: Eno's sound structures often involve the use of generative systems, where the music evolves in real-time through algorithms and processes rather than being pre-composed. This approach allows for an ever-changing auditory experience that can adapt to different environments. Notable examples include his "Music for Airports," which employs layers of soothing, minimalist sounds designed to blend into and enhance the ambiance of a space. Eno also used techniques such as tape loops, modular synthesizers, and processed field recordings to create textures that are more about mood and atmosphere than traditional musical composition.

Light Structures: Eno's work with light often involves creating installations that interact with their surroundings in dynamic ways. One example is his collaboration with visual artist and designer Ben Kelly on the "Light Music" installations, where lighting is synchronized with sound to create immersive, multisensory environments. These installations typically use light to alter the perception of space and to complement the ambient soundscapes, enhancing the overall sensory experience. Eno's light structures are designed to be adaptable and responsive, much like his sound work, contributing to an evolving and interactive artistic experience.

Brian Eno is primarily known as musician, composer, and producer who has significantly shaped contemporary music through his pioneering work in ambient and electronic genres. This flyer is a rare example of his artwork outside of music.
