1955 Glowing Moment
By: Jens Kaj Dineses
Date: 1955 (original painting)
Dimensions: 20.5 x 30 inches (52 x 76.2 cm)
Born in Denmark, in 1915, J. K. Dinesen loved to draw the images of the Sea. Eventually moving to Canada, he continued his work as an artist with larger paintings. By 1954, his complete mastery had been recognized, and he exhibited a large collection of oils at the Pacific National Exhibition. Best known for his surreal-like landscape oil paintings, his work was also on exhibition at the 1962 World's Fair, Seattle, Washington.
J. K. Dineses has captured the quiet riotousness of the sea. The amber tones from the Sun setting, reflect off the coastal waters and ragged edges of the coastline. The Artist uses his brush brilliantly, as he depicts the leopard-like circles created by the tide, contrasting the volatile waves crashing into the rocks. The viewer can almost taste the salty air, while hearing the loud roar of the sea at rest.
