Original hand colored etching from "Plates illustrative of the researches and operations of G. Belzoni in Egypt and Nubia" drawn by Giovanni Battista Belzoni. Plates were etched by I. Clark based on a drawing by G. Belzoni. Published in London in 1820 by John Murray.

Plate depicts a scene of the ruins of the Temple at Carnac with some trees and hills in the background.

"As many as eight colours are used on one plate for the coloured illustrations, and the colouring is skilfully done" (Abbey). "This was the first English work of any importance to use lithography" (Blackmer). (Abbey, 268; Blackmer, 117).

Condition:  Prints are in very fine condition showing vibrant color on clean paper with wide margins. A minor marginal tear has been reinforced on the verso.
