An original late 19th century fine art print of a painting by the Russian artist Constantin Mokovsky that was on display at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. This antique print, was part of the 1893 Geo. Barrie publication of Art and Architecture by William Walton.
This painting's title, "Bacchanal", is in reference to the god, Bacchus. A bacchanal is an occasion of wild and drunken revelry, as portrayed by this scene. The viewer can see shaggy satyrs frolicking with the young women in a an interesting landscape. The original description that accompanies this print describes the work as follows;
" It may be said to be one of the best works of art by this painter, and one of the most difficult to do so satisfactorily."
Condition: This print is in A condition on heavy 19th century fine art paper that displays an embossed Columbian Exposition stamp of authenticity. No tears, holes, or foxing.
