This is an authentic antique map of Yellowstone National Park in northwestern Wyoming. The map is by Julius Bien & Co and dated 1900, just 28 years after the park was established, March 1, 1872.
This finely detailed topographical map shows all of Yellowstone Park plus the region to the east up to Bighorn County, in today's Park County. It has good topographical detail with contour intervals at 100 feet at a scale of 1 inch = 4 miles. Numerous geysers, mountains, and buttes are named along with the Old Faithful Hotel. Various roads (proposed, under construction, and completed) are delineated along with trails and old wagon routes. Throughout the map, black and white circles differentiate the locations of snowshoe cabins and ranger stations.
Condition: Map is in A condition, issued folding with a binding trim along the left edge.
