This is an authentic antique map Alaska as Russian America by J.A. Bouchon. The map was published out of Paris in 1825.

This scarce map of Russian America is one of very few from the early 19th century to focus entirely on the region that would one day become Alaska. Separate from a mountain range in the northeast portion of Alaska, the vast majority of the interior is void of any detail. While exceptional detail is given too much of the southern and western coasts of Alaska to include islands, sounds, rivers, forts, villages, and larger towns, the entire northern coastline is still left to speculation as unexplored lands.

A description of the area flank the map and includes an interesting population statistic concluding a total number of 50,000 inhabitants, in which 19,000 are of the Koljouske and Ugataschmiute tribes, 30,000 are Eskimo, 1,000 are Russian.

Condition: Map is in A+ condition, with nice original color and full margins
