1748 Le Globe Celeste en Deux Plans Hemispheres

This is a lovely double hemisphere celestial map drawn to the observations of Philippe de la Hire, the French astronomer often published by Nicolas de Fer. Le Hire was one of the initial astronomers to display the entire celestial star patterns in the twin hemisphere format while featuring the constellations within allegorical illustrations. Surrounding the double hemisphere map are 16 diagrams that include depictions of the Sun, Saturn, phases of the Moon, Mars, Venus, and Mercury to name a few. There are also two small projections of the north and South Pole.
Condition: Map is in A condition with minor toning along the margins.
