This is an authentic antique map of Northeastern Africa by Christopher Weigel. It was published in Nuremberg for the atlas Descriptio Orbis Antiqui in XLIV in the year 1720.
This map includes the ancient cities and regions of Marmarica Aegyptus and Eithiopia. It shows the path of the Nile River extending from the Mediterranean Sea down to the ancient city of Meroë in modern Sudan. The Red Sea features prominently on the right side of the map. The lower left hand corner includes a decorative cartouche with eleven medallions based on Egyptian coinage and history.
Condition: Map is in A condition with exceptional original color and light foxing that is confined to the margins.
