This is an authentic antique map of French Canada to the Great Lakes by Huber Jaillot. The map was published in Paris and is dated 1696.
The is an excellent example of Jaillot’s map of French Canada, centered on the Hudson Bay and extending from the Great Lakes to Labrador and Newfoundland. The map displays nice detail with regard to the river systems from Port Nelson on south. This area was very active for fur trading between the Native Americans and the French. For this reason, numerous French military posts were established to keep the English from interfering. Several cities are noted along the St. Lawrence including Montreal and Quebec City.
Condition: Map is in A condition, with some very faint offsetting. Map displays a strong impression with original coloring.
