This is an authentic antique map showing present day Colombia and Panama, with portions of Ecuador and Venezuela. The map was published by Willem Blaeu out of Amsterdam in 1640.
This decorative map shows much of the northwest portion of South America from Esmeraldas, Ecuador to the Dutch island of Curacao. The mountainous topography of the land dominates the map with several cities, towns, lakes, and rivers noted throughout. Contemporary hand colored borders note political boundaries of the era. Two compass roses and rhumb lines decorate the oceans and baroque style title cartouche and distance scale with German and Spanish miles ornament lower right interior of the map.
Condition: Map is in A+ condition with a striking impression, wide margins, and original hand coloring.
