This antique copper engraved map by Nicolas Sanson depicts the Caribbean Islands, portions of both Central and northeastern South America, along with the southern tip of Florida. It is from Sanson’s Atlas of Americas, which included fifteen folded maps with explanatory text of peoples and their languages, traditions and religious customs.

Political boundaries, major cities, towns and villages are all delineated. Major cities, towns and villages are shown, along with river systems, and mountain ranges are depicted pictorially. Administrative and political divisions are depicted. The map has some outline coloring and a decorative cartouche.

Condition: This map is in B+ condition with some faint crinkling of the paper along the lower half. Color appears old, likely not original but well done over a sharp impression with ample margins on all sides.
