1720 Nova Tabula Scaniae, quae est Gothia pars australis provincias Scaniam
By: Johann Baptiste Homann
Date: 1720 (published) Nuremberg
Dimensions: 19 x 22.5 inches (48 x 57 cm)
An attractive example of a surprisingly scarce and highly detailed map of southern Sweden and part of Denmark. The map includes the notable cities of Gothenburg (found in the inset map) Copenhagen (named here Kiobenhaffn), and Malmo, as well as many other small towns and villages.
Mountains, lakes, rivers, forests, and fjords are rendered in exceptional detail consistent with the latter years of the Golden Age of Dutch cartography. An elaborate title cartouche in the lower right features mermen and mermaids fishing while winged allegorical figures present national crests.
Condition: This map is in A condition with lovely hand coloring over a sharp print impression on clean paper with full margins on all sides.
