1935 Standard Globe by: Replogle - 12 inch
By: Replogle Globes
Date: 1935 (circa) Chicago
Dimensions: 12 inch globe
This is a handsome, original twelve inch Standard Globe by Replogle, produced out of their headquarters in Chicago in 1935. The globe is mounted onto a bronze colored metal base with a lovely patina and includes degrees of latitude.
When globes such as this do not have their date of production or copyright printed on, we turn to the geography itself and compare it to historical events. In this case, the globe shows Persia renamed Iran, which changed in 1935 but does not yet recognize Ethiopia as Italian East Africa which was formed in 1936 after the Second Italo-Ethiopian War. Other geo-political points of interest include, Mancuhria recently annexed by Japan and renamed Manchoukou, Constantinople renamed Istanbul and Peking, renamed Peiping, now present-day Beijing.
Condition: Globe is in fine condition with some scuffs and paint markings scattered about.
