1925 Columbus-Globe | 33 cm
By: Dr. R. Neuse / Columbus Globe
Date: 1925 (circa) Berlin, Germany
Dimensions: 13 inch or 33 cm (diameter) 25 inch (height)
This is an antique desk globe from the early 1920s by Dr. R. Neuse of Columbus Globes based in Berlin, Germany. The 13 inch globe is mounted on a lovely wood stand with a small inlaid compass (non-functioning) in the base.
We've dated this globe 1925 because it shows Christiania renamed Oslo, Norway, which became official on January 1, 1925. Central Australia which existed from 1926 - 1961 does not appear and Peking has not yet been renamed to Peiping, China, a change that would occur in 1928. Other geo-political and cartographic points of interest include, Petrograd (St. Petersburg) changed to Leningrad, Ethiopia not yet formed from Abyssinia, Persia not yet renamed to Iran, and much of the Antarctic coastline still yet to be charted.
Condition: Globe is in very fine condition with a few scuffs and scratched scattered about the globe and wooden base.
