A beautiful 17th century sea chart of the Canary Islands published during the golden age of Dutch map making as part of Olivier Dapper's "Naukeurige Beschrijvinge der Afrikaensche Gewesten..."

The map centers on a compass rose with the Canary Island with surrounding and interconnected by a web of rumblings.  Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro are all depicted with several donning names from centuries past. In the top right, an elegant cartouche with allegorical figures presents the Latin title of the map, Insulae Canariae alias Fortunae dicte, which translates to The Canary Islands, otherwise known as Fortuna.

Condition: This map is in A condition in its original uncolored state. The print impression is strong on clean paper with full margins on all sides.
