By: Henri Abraham Chatelain
Date: 1719 (Published) Amsterdam
Dimensions: 14.75 x 36.4 inches (37.5 x 92.5 cm)
This finely engraved double-sheet chart is from Chatelain’s Atlas Historique, which was published in seven volumes between 1705 and 1720 and is one of the most famous and prolific cartographic works of the early 18th century. The chart is a fascinating genealogical tree tracing Poland’s royal family from its founding members in the early 9th century CE, to 1704 CE. Thirty coats of arms under the title serve to embellish the chart. Insets of text in the lower corners contain extensive historical remarks in French.
Condition: This chart is in A condition in its original, uncolored state, presenting a dark impression on watermarked, hand-laid paper. Half of the sheet is more toned than the other, which can be more or less obvious depending on the light of the room.
