This is a finely detailed map of Montana produced at the turn of the 20th century for the Economic Geology of Fuels with a focus on coal. The map is presented in a surveyor's format showing abundant hydrologic detail throughout.

A key within the map explains the color coding as it refers to Indian reservations, military reservations, and the location of surveyor general and U.S. land offices. The map includes the towns of Livingston, Bozeman, Helena, Missoula, and Yellowstone National Park in nearby Wyoming. Indian reservations shown include Fort Peck and Belknap, as well as the Crow, Blackfeet, and Flathead Indian Reservations.

A separate key pertains to townships containing coal and townships that probably contain coal, which is the overriding theme of the map as it was produced with a focus on the economic geology of fuels.

Condition: This map is in A condition, issued folded now flat with bold, original color on bright, clean paper and ample margins on all sides for framing. Any fold minor separations have been reinforced on the verso using archival materials.
