This antique photo of the Auditorium in Chicago, 1895, is an exquisite example of the designs of Louis Sullivan & Dankmar Adler. The style is Art Nouveau, and the building used the most modern technology at the time, including electric lighting and air conditioning.
It was designed to be a multi-use complex, including offices, a theater, & a hotel. Architect Frank Lloyd Wright worked on some of the interior design. In 1970, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1947, it has been a part of Roosevelt University. The intricate detail is clearly visible and awesome.
Beneath this image is a detailed text in French, while on the verso is a rural farm scene in New Hampshire.
