Grand Canyon National Park travel pamphlet

By: Rand McNally

Date: 1930s (circa) Chicago

Size: 4 x 9 inches

This is a lovely travel pamphlet advertising the Grand Canyon was created for Santa Fe Railway by Rand McNally, It includes information on the popular travel spot as well as options for hotels, lodges, and camps. This guide describes motor trips as well as trail trips and the popular Phantom Ranch. It includes several monochromatic photographs as well as a birds-eye-view of the Grand Canyon from the east rim.

We approximate the date this piece was published to be sometime during the late 1930s based on the front-end design of the bus pictured within the brochure. The cover design, featuring a group of Native Americans gazing out over the canyon is very similar in design to a travel poster designed for Santa Fe Railways by Oscar M. Bryn during the 1940s.

Condition: Fine with some edge-wear and a fold separation extending a little over one inch into the brochure. This can be reinforced with archival materials on request at no additional cost.
