This event was ostensibly taken to mean that the land had been gifted to the English. The two are surrounded by indigenous peoples dancing and seemingly reveling at the arrival of the Europeans, with tepees and palm trees as a backdrop. Along the beach a well-armed small squadron is seen erecting a sign to claim the land for England. Curious indigenous individuals are seen approaching a large group of very well-armed Europeans, with gifts in arms for them.
