An original late 19th century fine art print of a painting by the Italian artist, Eugen von Blaas, that was on display at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. This antique print, was part of the 1893 Geo. Barrie publication of Art and Architecture by William Walton.
This painting is a sweet example of a big brother sharing an orange with his little sister. Both figures are dressed scantily yet appear plump. The boy sits comfortably on the stone steps in an alley, while the little girl watches anxiously as he peels the fruit to share.
"The "good" elder brother sits on the steps in one of those narrow little stone alleys that we have all threaded-and hope to again-and divides with childish and very dirty hands the stray orange; the little sister, equally plump, and delightfully scant in her attire, stands and waits confidently for her portion."
Condition: This print is in A condition on heavy 19th century fine art paper that displays an embossed Columbian Exposition stamp of authenticity. There are no visible tears, holes, or folds.
