Date: 1892 (published) Washington D.C.

Dimensions: 16 x 13 inches (40.5 x 33 cm)

This scarce map of the San Diego Bay & Vicinity was prepared during the time period when San Diego was actively soliciting the US Government to consider San Diego for future military installations. From its inception, San Diego has been a military town. It began as a Spanish territorial fort, and today is host to ten Navy and Marine Corps installations.

The map names many of the original landowners of the track of land between Old Town San Diego and Roseville, and they are easily detectable on the map. The names include Mannasse and Schiller, corral and stable operators who were instrumental in the formation of Balboa Park.

Condition: Map is in A+ condition with no tears or pinholes and bright original color on clean paper.
