This is one of the earliest American maps of New Hampshire from the first American gazetteer. Major roads and towns are indicated, as is some indication of the of the White Mountains. Eighteenth century script is enhanced by decorative flourishes in the title and the map is surrounded by a Federalist style border.
Joseph T. Scott was a Philadelphia engraver and publisher, issuing his gazetteer during the first days of American cartography. The maps of the new states and territories are all very detailed especially given the early age.
Condition: This map is in A condition with a sharp impression on clean paper, and ample margins on all sides. Some light toning of the paper is apparent on the outer edges but does not extend into the map image.
