Two spectacular early topographic maps of Grand Canyon that are as beautiful as they are informative. The area is divided into Each map includes an inset map of the entire park, along with 19-22 boxes, in the "Explanation", showing the diverse terrain of this natural wonder. Altitude is noted throughout the map as are the many set of rapids along the Colorado River, which is clearly highlighted in blue. The many geologic formations found throughout the Grand Canyon, such as plateaus, amphitheaters, temples, and towers are also named. The entire park boundary is outlined in a light forest green border.
About the Grand Canyon National Park
This magnificent national park is located in Arizona, in the southwest portion of the United States. It has layered bands of red rock revealing millions of years of geological history. Viewpoints include Mather Point, Yavapai Observation Station, architect Mary Colter's Lookout Studio, and her Desert View Watchtower. Lipan Point, with wide views of the canyon and Colorado River, is popular, especially at sunrise and sunset. The East half of the canyon is 1900 square miles, established in 1919, with close to 3 million visitors per year. Visitors can stay at a lodge, camp, and hike. It is also home to 11 tribes that have historic connections to the lands and resources within the Grand Canyon National Park.
