This is a scarce and well designed sea chart of the Strait of Gibraltar, oriented east with Spain on the left and the Barbary Coast (present-day Morocco) on the right. The rock of Gibraltar is depicted and coastal cities and towns are noted throughout, including Malaga, Algeciras, Tarifa, and Cadiz in Spain and Tetouan, Ceuta, Tangier, and Larache in Morocco.

An elaborately decorative title cartouche adorns the interior of Spain and rhumb lines, wind directions, depth soundings, shoals, anchorages, and a compass rose fill the ocean. There is another version of this map with a view looking westward from the Mediterranean.

Condition: This map is in A condition with some light additional folds along the main centerfold of the map. Margins are full on all sides and the colors are brilliant.
