An original late 19th century fine art print of a painting by the French artist, Edouard Rosset-Granger, that was on display at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. This antique print, was part of the 1893 Geo. Barrie publication of Art and Architecture by William Walton.

The painter's study is carefully reproduced by the etcher, depicting a nude woman in the surf, as the tide comes in. You can almost feel the salty air as the roaring waves approach the subject. The title, "Jetsam", suggests a story behind this deceased body, as jetsam is defined as part of the ship's cargo that is cast overboard to lighten the load in time of distress and that sinks or is washed ashore.

".....the values and tones and qualities of wet, fair, dead flesh, with all these reflections and full lights from the sea and air, constitute  an important technical problem, which has much interested these two artists."

Condition:  This print is in A condition on heavy 19th century fine art paper that displays an embossed Columbian Exposition stamp of authenticity.  There are no visible tears, holes, or folds.
