1878 Paris
DESCRIPTION
An original chromolithograph view of Paris, France as it was in the late 19th century, about ten years prior to the Exposition Universelle where the Eifel Tower was unveiled. The view looks down on the city with the Palace de la Concorde and the Louvre in the foreground and Notre Dame on the Île de la Cité within the River Seine in the distance.
This view was one of sixteen depictions of international cities that appeared in William Collins's "The Complete Atlas, Consisting of One Hundred and Twenty Maps of Modern, Historical, Classical, and Physical Geography," published out of Glasgow in 1878.
