This authentic antique map describes the state of Maine and its adjacent British Provinces in the third decade of the 19th century. It describes the territorial claims of both the United States and Great Britain regarding these and adjoining territories. The claims are denoted by boundary lines in colors as described in the legend.

Of significant interest are the land grants made to six individuals, whose names are listed in the lower left quadrant, and the stories concerning those grants. That territorial disputes were yet commonplace at such a late date is of interest.

This map deserves attention and research and will reward a patient devotee with interesting historical details regarding the final determination of borders and territories in the early decades of the 19th century.
