Date: 1825 (published) Paris

Dimensions: 19 x 25.5 inches (48.25 x 64.75 cm)

This is an authentic antique map Mexico by J.A. Bouchon. The map was published out of Paris in 1825.

This is an exceptional example of Buchon’s map of the Upper California, Texas, and Mexico from the French version of the Carey and Lee American Atlas. The map shows Mexico extending from northern Guatemala to just north of C. Mendocino and as far east to include all of present day Texas. The map delivers great detail of the Texas watershed and includes the important settlements of Presido Nacogdoch and Presido de Bejer.

In the New Mexico region, Santa Fe and several pueblos including Acoma and Laguna are identified as are the lands of the Apache, Hopi (Moqui). Both Lake Timpanagos and Teguayo are shown, with remnants of the “river of the west” flowing from Teguayo to Monterrey. Numerous California missions are shown as are the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Panels of French text describing the geography, climate, ports, and population statistics surround the map.

Condition: Map is in A+ condition, with nice original color and full margins.
