An original late 19th century fine art print of a painting by the German artist, Professor Fritz von Udhe, that was on display at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. This antique print,  was part of the 1893 Geo. Barrie publication of Art and Architecture by William Walton.

The artist is depicting the angel Gabriel announcing to the shepherds that Jesus has been born.  It is a common subject of Christian art.  the five Shepherds are looking at Gabriel in awe and wonderment as he speaks.

"In this "Annunciation", the anachronisms are not very striking, though it is evident on inspection that these Syrian shepherds are really Bavarian peasants.  The painter's meaning evidently is, that the story is just as new and just as important now as it ever was."

Condition:  This print is in A condition on heavy 19th century fine art paper that displays an embossed Columbian Exposition stamp of authenticity.  There are no visible tears, holes, or folds.
