The map pays special attention to the Illinois and Michigan Canal (I & M Canal), which played a vital role in the transport of goods and raw materials to the western frontier, and made Chicago a vital junction between the Mississippi River and the eastern states. Additionally, much of the bordering states of Iowa, Missouri, and Indiana are also shown in detail.

Condition: Map is in A condition with a narrow left margin (common among these maps), but no tears or holes. The map displays bold original color and lightly toned paper.
