This folding map of Stockholm by London-based cartographer Thomas Kitchin presents a bird’s eye view of the city and its environs in the late 18th century. A reference key is in the upper right quadrant, with Latin letters designating important sites in and near the city, including both the Carlsberg and Frederickshof Palaces, the Observatory, a number of churches, and other places of note.
Kitchin had a remarkably successful career which included serving as engraver to the Duke of York, and in 1773 being named Royal Hydrographer to King George III.
Condition: This map is in B condition. Some uneven toning and some small areas of damp staining.
