This map of what is present-day Guangdong province of South China and Hainan Island, highlights the Pearl River Delta, location of Quang-Chew-Fu (Guangzhou or Canton), Ma-Kau (Macao) and the future Hong Kong. The map is finely detailed with mountains and many towns. An inset box lists the latitude and longitude of some 36 towns in Quang-tong and 6 on Hay-Nan. Explanatory text attests to the great care taken in checking the latitude and longitude of places represented, indicating various methods by a system of underlining.
