Dimensions: 8.5 x 11.5 inches (22.2 cm x 29.2 cm)

This fascinating pictorial map was published in 1935 by Ruth Taylor. It appeared in the atlas published by Taylor and her husband Frank Taylor entitled “Our U.S.A. - a Gay Geography”, with the maps done by Ruth and the text by her husband.

The map provides local color and flavor, depicting cultural stereotypes, industries and activities of the state. The Rocky Mountains, shown starting in southern Montana, extend from north to south across the state into northern Colorado. The primary river systems of the state are depicted, as are iconic images of the industries which fueled Wyoming’s economy at the time.

Oil wells dot the state, and numerous coal mines are already in operation. Cowboys, horses and livestock are well represented. Yellowstone National Park features tourists, wildlife and an itinerant trapper.

Condition: This color lithograph is in A condition with damp stain at the outer edge, not entering the image.
