Amador County - That beautiful, historic vacationland, that lies between the Mokelumne and the Consumnes rivers.

By: Sinclair Ross

Date: 1949 (published) Pine Grove, CA

Dimensions: 17 x 22 inches (43 x 56 cm)

A scarce centennial celebration map of the forty-niners that first settled in what would become Amador County, California. Other examples of the map were later published in the 1960s but this early example appear quite rare and is not found in OCLC.

This folding pictorial map is richly illustrated with symbols and figures representing the history, industrial resources, recreation activities, and natural features of the region. Just below a hitching post, we find two paragraphs of text detailing the history and a present-day reputation of Amador County. The top and bottom borders are embellished with a handsome pinecone, leaf and tree branch design.

Condition: This map is in A condition, issued folding, now mostly flat, with one small tear at lower left that has been repaired on the verso.
