A full page, full color advertisement by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, for their line of Turkish Blend Cigarettes, claiming “First In The Service”, or the number one choice of all branches of the U.S. Military. We see images of young men smoking and sharing cigarettes around the border of the print in the Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. In the lower right of the print, a diagram shows the “T-Zone”, or taste and throat, where the cigarette is properly judged by each individual smoker. Camel cigarettes are one of the few large brands to be included in soldiers’ rations throughout WWII, along with Lucky Strike and Old Gold brands.
