Date: 1856 (published) New York

Dimensions: 17 x 14 inches (43.2 x 35.5 cm)

This is an original antique map of Alabama, published by Joseph H. Colton out of New York in 1856. The map is color coded and shows railroads, common roads, rivers, canals, lakes, large towns and villages of the mid-19th century. Important towns can be found within the map, including Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Talladega, and Selma. Columbiana appears as a large town because of its location along the railroad. This town is far more irrelevant today as it now resides just southeast of Birmingham, which does not appear on this map.

Condition: Map is in A condition with bold original color on clean paper with ample margins on all sides. Some light paper toning is apparent along the edge of the page.
